Default wheel makeover help

hey guys, I have a question.
in the link https://www.hondacivicforum.com/m_141981/tm.htmpatrick talk about 2 3M sanding sponges, one coarse/medium and one fine/extra-fine for the sanding one, is it possible with a palm sander as well or has it got to be sanding sponges?
thanx

I would do just like MXS did in the DIY you posted. If you want it to be sub par they stray from the DIY.

I used a palm sander and mine turned out fine. i also used a dremmel instead of a wire brush to get the majority of the clear coat off.

I painted mine about 7 months ago and i still have no flakes or anything and my wheels look great so....uh...there you go

Depends on your wheel. Palm sanders usually have a flat surface, my wheels were not flat though. I used the sponges because they conformed to the curve of the wheels.

dito... depends on the wheels shape... i did my old wheels with my palm sander. worked great... tho they where mostly flat. but mine where so badly curbed all over i had to do ALOT of sanding, plus i was sanding out DEEP curb scratches...

they looked great...
best part was i got those wheels/tires for only 75bucks cause no one else wanted them from all the curb damage on them... tho i couldnt fit them on my civic without them rubbing hardcore so i ended up just selling them for 250bucks. they cleaned up great! now they were not PERFECT but the one was badly damaged from the wreck.

i realy wish i just kept them cause that was the deal of a lifetime i think....

so just be sure if ya sand down to bare metal to primer them. otherwise the paint will chip off very easily....
