If you had a '97 EX coupe with an auto. tranny that's going out. Would you

1) Sell it while it's still running and just get something different
2) Buy an engine and trans out of a '99 SI for $400 off a friend who beat the **** out of it and the half shafts and do the swap
3) Find an engine and trans. online
4) Go to a local trans. shop and get rebuilt auto. for $1400

If the rest of the car is still good, either convert to manual or if you'd rather drive auto, should be able to find a good used automatic for cheap from someone who did a swap and/or convert.

the car's dented all over, rusting in a few spots, needs brakes and suspension, engine is extremely rough sometimes. So i'm just afraid it's going to be nothing but a money pit for me.

However, there is a junkyard close to me that specializes in hondas....I heard a lot of stuff is usable from an integra, so what year/package should i look for there as a parts car?

depends on what year integra and what part you're wanting to use. most third generation 94-01 integras are swappable. but not the tranny in your case, only if you do the entire swap. if you decide to sell, you prolly have a difficult time from the condition of the car. if you swap it and fix everything wrong with it, you'll lose about the same amount money.

i'd just swap a manual tranny in there, then depending on what you're doing in the future, maybe do a mild build

I know it's been covered, and I've found it before, but can anyone tell me or post a link of a how to and parts list for the manual swap

Well, after going over my options and financial abilities...I can get an H22 motor and trans swapped in for $300 and free labor.

Since I need suspension work done anyway, and I heard that with the added weight of the H22 that a beefier setup is recommended anyway, so what should I get? I was thinking some sort of coilovers, but am afraid of ebay parts being junk

don't believe all the bull**** you hear. the h22 is only roughly 35 lb. heavier than the run of the mill b16 setup (including tranny). hell, most people around here need to loose that much weight off their own ***, lol. the h motor is tilted a bit forward, which gives it a slight bit of understeer with the heavier nose end. but it's still very drivable, almost like stock, except with about 100 more horses (compared to d series).
