What is Transfer Fluid and What does it do?

 

There's nothing in a Civic called "transfer fluid." Or in any other car that I know of.

 

I thought it was coolant i found it in the manual under service codes

 

transfer fluid = beer

utilized to transfer one far far away after civic repair fiascos

seriously though, please elaborate

 

Transfer fluid usually only comes equipped in 4 wheel drive vehicles. Just imagine looking underneath your SUV or truck and seeing your driveshaft in two pices. halfway down the driveshaft where it splits in two, is called the transfer case. In most cases this fluid is just a dex 3 auto trans fluid (or dex 6 in newer models) and you change it about as often as your transmission fluid. I used to work in a shop and ive never seen this on cars, only trucks and suvs. Hope this helps

 

Transfer fluid....

first thing I thought of was headlight fluid, muffler bearings, and changing the air in your tires from winter air to summer air (Canadian models only)

never heard of transfer fluid either. and if your civic has a transfer case, I'd love to see pics!
