What is this piece? (Pics attached)
I crawled up under the Honda today and was looking for the cause of a slow oil leak I've been having. It's only leaked about half a quart in 2,000 miles of driving. I found this metal piece which has broken; it looks like it connects from the engine to the transmission (almost where the inspection plate would be, I think). I've attached some pictures to give you an idea. I noticed that when it broke, it apparently left a pretty big dent in the side of the oil pan, and a questionable scratch. I don't THINK it punctured it, but I cleaned the area off pretty well, and only time will tell. Thanks for any input.

Likely just the stabilizer bracket that firms up the connection between the trans and the block. They are very easy to break when they get older or if someone tried dropping the trans without unbolting it first.

Thanks! I'm sure someone dropped the transmission and caused this. I'm praying that the small "scratch" in the oil pan isn't a slow leak. Also, should I look into replacing that piece? Would it have an effect on in-car vibrations? This is going to sound weird, but sometimes when I am coasting to a stop in neutral, the car will start shaking more than usual. If I push the clutch down, and then let it back up, the vibration will be gone. Could this have something to do with that, or is that likely caused by something else? The clutch engages / disengages fine, no rattles, slippage, grinding, etc and it shifts smoothly through all gears. Thanks!

The piece is probably 20 bucks or so. Is a matter of life and death, not likely. I replaced mine because it bothered me not being there. I checked the parts book on MajesticHonda (http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...artsSearch.jsp) (Emission and Transmission Type: KA5MT) and could not see the part in any of the parts breakdowns. You'll probably have call Majestic or your local dealer to see if they have a part number for it.
The shaking is not from this bracket being broken. Check your motor mounts. You have five. Typically both front lower mounts wear/break.
The oil leak is probably form the oil pan gasket. See if oil is above the oil pan on the block. If it is, your leak is further up too.

I replaced the bottom engine motor mount because it was looking pretty rough...car idles a ton smoother now. I went to Pull-a-Part to try and find this bracket, but accidently got one off of an automatic transmission and it was the wrong size...I replaced my oil pan gasket so hopefully no more oil leak. The letters "P2C MT" are stamped on this piece. Anyone know where I can find a replacement (besides a junk yard--I had no luck there). Thanks in advance...

You can find it here, its part 12 or 13, but it would halp to know what car you drive, model, year, but in the page you´ll figure it out, tell if it worked!

Not bad. I went to Honda to try to find miscellaneous parts...the last was the small plastic clip that holds the metal rod (that holds the hood up). They wanted $5! So I didn't even bother to ask about that bracket... :-/

I went to Honda today, and they want $68 for that bracket. Screw that! I'm going to prowl around Pull-a-Part for it. They wanted $5.15 for EACH of the little plastic pieces that hold the trunk carpet in... ridiculous.
