What oil?

What oil?
I don't want to start a oil war but since owning a Honda Civic it appears that a entire new set of rules apply. Is there a favorite oil & filter? What is the preferred transmission fluid?
Is the oil from the factory a special "break in oil? I have always used Mobil #1 and never experienced any problem. My wife & I have always owned alleged American cars & we have had our share of lemons. Both of us retired from General Motors & it was a difficult decision to not buy a GM car which by-the-way gives us a good employee discount. We could not find a decent GM car that even remotely compared to the Honda & the price of gas is going to go higher.

RE: What oil?
I won't even take FRAM for free...Most of the time I used OEM oil filters. I always get them from my local dealer when they are in sale. 4 filters for $15. I have also used K&N and BOSH Filters. But I always stick with the OEM.
I only used the Mobil 5000 clean oil 5-30. My car only has 56,xxx miles on it. I don't use Mobil 1 right now because its synthetic oil
Transmission Oil that's your called.

RE: What oil?
FRAM=SCAM They are junk. Motorcraft makes good filters and i use purolator on mine the insides almost identical to a motor craft. as for oil depening on mileage of the car if its over 75,000 i like to use a high mileage oil if lower miles i go with Mobil One

RE: What oil?
Whatever the Honda dealer puts in. I get a free car wash with each oil change. I usually change when the indicator gets down to 15% or so. That is about 6,000 miles. The dealer always puts on a 3,000 mile oil change interval decal, but I go by the Honda manual on this.

RE: What oil?
use Honda oil filters ..as for engine oil any major brands will do , if you reside in a cold winter climate use 5w-20 if in a mild winter climate use 5w-30 the key is to change it no more than 3500 miles ,, if you plan on using Mobil 1 ( good choise ) don;t replace it at least till 5-6k miles
as for tranny fluid , if it is AT use Honda ATF-Z1 .. if manual tranny use Honda MTF
I know that Honda tranny fluid is a bit more money but for as rarely as you replace it, 30k miles , it is well worth the extra money
