water temp goes up on highway, normal?
I have a98 civicEX, and I just spended 1300$ at Midas tofix my A/C.when i was driving on the highway, i noticedmy temperature gauge on the interior gauge clusterwent up(2/3), as soon as iwas accelerating to pass a car. i was going about 85 mph when i was passing. theni slow down to 70, the needle stay at the (1/2)for the rest of the trip. normally, the needle stay at a little below 1/2, i don't know it is because of the hot day or my acceleration.I'm wondering what it could be?if the car is ok or not.another thing is the A/C was blowing warm air when the needle was at the 2/3 place. but as soon as i slow down, the A/C went back to normal.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

with check to see if ur radiator fan is working and make sure u have coolant in the radiator and not water. my first thought when i read this topic was proably the radiator fan isnt working so i would check tht 1st. than check ur fuses too i remember one times my a/c fan fuse had blown and all i did was change the bad fuse and it started to work again.

i bought a new radiator today, it hasntgot hot,but i havent driven it much. ill test it on the way home from work tomorrow. if it gets hot i am changing the water pump. i think it could be the water pump because the motor has a whine sound coming from something the timing belt is spinning. thanks.

RE: water temp goes up on highway, normal?
i went to firestone and midas, and i got the same answer from both shop.
they told me it is the hot summer weather that cause the temp to rise. (104 today)
and it is normal for the needle to go up, as long as it doesn't reach or close to the red spot.
so they just want me to see if it will happen in the winter time. if it does, then i should bring it in.
last, i asked them to check my radiator, but itwas gonna cost about 49.99.
