Default Water Pump assistance!

I have a 1995 Honda Civic Hatchback and has been running for about 13 years and has had many minor problems over the years but it's still great. Well so far I have had a big issue with the car over heating constantly. I figured out that the water pump had a leak and went out and bought one. So now it's just the case of changing it. I am a beginner but when I actually go to do it I will make sure my father is around who is good with cars. I just would like step by step directions on what I must do so I have an idea other than just staring blankly at him doing all the work. Thanks everyone any advice would be great!

The water pump is driven by the timing belt. Replacing it involves basically the same procedure as replacing the timing belt. Detailed instructions in the DIY section I think. Many people change the pump every time they do the belt so they know it is new and won't have problems later. I suggest you buy a new timing belt to put on while you have it apart, unless you know the one you have now is almost new. If you do opt to reuse the timing belt be sure to put it back on the same way it came off, not turning the other way.

For detailed instructions, you can download the 92-95 Civic service manual here:
