how do i know if my vtec is working............reason why sometimes i hit gas and the rpms shoots way up and it takes off like hell when passing ,...but most the time its like it just goes back in to third and the rpms dont go up that much .........thanks in advance

U can hear when your Vtec kicks in. Do u have an intake on your car??

 

Im not sure but i think vtec kicks in around 5500 rpm. If im wrong someone please correct me.

 

no its all stock with a jdm replace motor and tranny

 

hmmmm ,...see the car runs at 26-2700 rpms cursing 70mph and once in a blue moon if i pass it will shift down and the rpms do go up to like 5500ish but most of the time if i stomp on it the rpms go up to only 3000ish and i just buzz my way around em ,... and it takes forever too get from 65 to 75ish to get around em,.......makes me feel like an *** lol

 

Well it sounds like u need to get in the gas harder. If you are only hitting 3000rpms its not going to get in to vtec.

 

thats flooring it by the time i pass someone going from 65 to like 80 the rpms go up at first from 2600 ish at 65 it shifts down one gear i think and the rpms go up to 3000 by the time i hit 80 there at 42-4300 ,.....but when it goes like it should ,..witch its only happen like 3 times they go from 2600 to 5000 ish like you say and it passes the hell out peps ,........not sure what the deal iz

 

When is the last time u checked your oil?

 

just changed it 1k ago........i think its just my luck
