Default Valve Adjustment Question

Is it easier to do the valve adjustment with the head on the car or off?
I pulled the head for a head gasket leak and just finished replacing the valve guide seals.
So I already have the head off the car. Just wondering if I should go ahead and do it now or after I put everything back together.

Thanks,
Brian

I can see only one benefit of doing it with head off would be that you have all the room for your hand and filler gage. If you can secure the head assembly on the bench with rooms for valves to move in and out, I guess it will be okay.

yeah either way as long as your measuring with the valve fully closed is what matters

No problem doing it off the car. Rotate the cam to correspond to TDC for the cylinder you're adjusting:

UP mark on cam pulley at top (12 o'clock) adjust #1 (intake and exhaust)
9 o'clock #3
6 o'clock #4
3 o'clock #2
