Default Two mufflers or two cats?

Couldn't find this... just to the rear of the first cat is another cylindrical object. It doesn't look like a cat, but I'm not sure it's a muffler. If it's a muffler, has anyone ripped it out and put in a straight pipe to the rear muffler?

It might be a secoundary cat.I am running straight pipe from manifold to muffler. Its not good on the outside air a little louder but it makes a little more horsepower.

I'm not familiar with that exhaust, but I bet it's a resonator. Looks kind of like this, right?

If you take it out, it will probably change the sound of your exhaust.

I think you'r talking about the resonator.Removing this will change the sound of your car .But for performence i don't know, maybe a little horse or two.

as everyone has posted, a resonator.
did not know that they still put them on. not seen them in a while.
i have always removed mine and put in a straight pipe (for the res), but that was years ago.
if in a state with an inspection, can you pass without the resonator ??

Resonators do not do anything for emissions, but if taking the resonator out makes your exhaust louders a jackass cop might decide to give you a noise ticket.
