(In response to headacheforhonda) I hope I do not offend you. I am just having difficulties understanding your problem. As you didn't need a mechanic's trick to remove the pump, why do you think a trick is needed for the reverse action.

You are funny Ron J....So what do you think is it the same procedure for my gas tank. I just want to know because on the future I don't want to post a thread "How do I remove my fuel pump".

I will drive the Si today in a while and hope it was that stupid bolt on my distributor....[:@]

In response to Ron J. As I said, it's so easy to took it out, but I spent 2 hours with different tries wothout putting the new one to the right position. That remind me to ask whether there might be a trick to put a new one in.

Now What should I do with the tank full of gas opening? obvious I can't move the car, can't tow the car? Any safty procedure if I can't put this dam pump bakc on?

Take the bad pump off of the top cover assembly and use that cover with no pump to close up the hole. I agree to walk away from it for a while, and when the gas fumes have cleared your head, try it again. I suspect the trick is to come in at a particular angle in the first place.

You can drain most of the gas out with the drain bolt in the bottom of the tank.

Thanks you much. You came up with an excellent idea to just cover up with the old cover. I am more than three hrs with this now. I do feel a little dizzy with the gas vapor now. Wish the gas not too toxic. I take your advice and am going away from my car for a long while, then come back to see if I can put it right in.

Thanks and have a good weekend in case I stop postting for now.

The picture shows that replacing the fuel pump on your 2000 Civic is similar or identical. Good luck with the test drive.
