Default Trans swap ???

Hello all...

First off, nice board! Better organization than most forums I've visited in the past.

Secondly, I have a 97 civic DX (NON VTEC) manual trans.

I've got to find a replacement for the trans, I found one out of a 97 v tec car. Can I use it? Anything I would have to change over?

Thanks in advance!

oops... Yes that should fit no problem. The D-series parts are real interchangeable. I think the DX, LX has slightly taller final gearing for better highway mpg compared to the EX.

I found another trans (closer and less miles), the bar code on the side says it's an S20 (95 MODEL) the one in my car (which isn't original) is a S40.

Will the S20 work?

Thanks again

I'm not sure about that, going to a different model generation there may be differences with the motor mount points.
