Default Navi will not show mp3 song folder structure correctly

I bought a 2009 Civic SI with Navi, which has a port for a pcmcia card that you can load mp3's on. I got an adapter for pcmcia to SD, and a 2 GB SD card.

It works, but the nice-neat music folders that I created on my pc don't show up correctly on the navi screen. I have about 50 songs and about 10 folders. Some of the folders are several layers deep. The problem is, the navi system displays everything on the same level, even the songs that are several folder levels deep. This gives me 1 long list and makes it harder to find songs.

When I put the pcmcia card and chip into my laptop, everything looks fine. When I put the SD chip itself into a desktop, everything is fine. But it will not display correctly on the navi. The Honda manual says it should go 8 levels deep.

I tried FAT, FAT32, few folders/files, many folders/files, 8.3 filenames and some other stuff. I can't figure it out.

Any ideas?
