Default Toggle Switch Performance Upgrade

Hey guys, brand new here, just wanted to pick your guys' brains about a possible project.

Years ago, my friend had a Ford Escort ZX2. he wired in two toggle switches and "dimmer" ***** to his wiring harness (the computer maybe?) and they adjusted performance on the fly, I don't exactly know what they did, but he was able to tune 2 aspects of the engine with the flip of a switch.

Does anybody know of any performance adjustments that I could do like this on my 90 Civic? Let me know if you have any ideas.

I myself have never heard of such a modification. I'm 99.9% sure there is nothing like that you can do to a Honda to increase performance.

No, not really. Being in vtec before the factory crossover will waste gas while actually making less power.

And honestly, the one thing that comes to mind when I read this post was a timing advance button. I'm not sure you can even do it in a civic, and there's really not much point; you'd have to run higher octane gas all the time in case you decided to use the timing advance, and at that point, it's just smarter to either have the ecu chipped or just stick with the stock timing/87 octane

So, I finally got ahold of this guy who had it in his ZX2, and he said he had two toggle switches and 2 adjustment ***** which did the following:

-One switch was wired into the Intake Air sensor, telling the car that the air outside is below freezing
-The other switch tweaked the Engine coolant temperature sensor, this makes the engine think that its radiator fluid is super cold

These are obviously horribly dangerous. Haha, can anything like this be done to a Civic?

So he basically did what those so-called ebay "performance" chips do, but he can turn it off and on

trust me, you don't want to do that
