well now that the tough part is over (i think), i'd like some input from everybody on how best to time my car. i have a gun or light thingy, timing marks all line up @ tdc, i have the dizzy advanced as far as it will go, and the car is still kinda idling roughly. it does have aftermarket cams, but i dont remember it "hittin' a lick" this hard. any ideas/tips for ol' brent? btw, cams are crower 404-somethin' or other...

You need to jumper the ECU test plug before setting the spark timing with a light. In normal operation (test plug not jumpered) the ECU will advance the timing by a variable amount.

 

umm. idk what or where the test plug is. i did not jump it. also, i have a tremendous leak where my #2 injector seals to the fuel rail. figure this might contribute to my rough idle as well. oh! and yes the adj cam gears are on and no, idk how to adj them. just thought they looked neat. just bein real with yall!

 

can you post a pic of them, also yea fix that fuel leak.

 

Fix fuel leak first, unless you have really good insurance...

 

ha! insurance... i think there is a problem with the o ring seal btwn the injector top and the fuel rail. surely i can get o rings and not have to buy a new injetor! i hope at least.

 

Yes you can buy the o-ring separately. Make sure it is a type of rubber that is compatible with gasoline.

 

ordered the injector seal kit. now i cant find the service plug thing. ive read my crv manual, but i dont think it can tell me where to find the plug on my civic. could i follow some wires out of the ecu?
