Default throttle pedal postion sensor

I have a 2005 civic lx the code p0122 is in my ecu the car is running rough when it is ideling it has cut off once or twice that is a expensive part want to make sure it will cause what is happening also if it will is it something that a diyer can do or sould i put it in the shop

yes you can check it yourself but you would need to know how to use a voltmeter to check the input and output voltages on the tps.

Reference voltage going in is usually 5 volts and out varies according to position of the sensor, if its out of range then it will throw a check engine light. On the 05s i am not totally sure what the norm is for output but for civics key on engine off its usually 05v at closed throttle and 4.5v at full throttle this voltage is on the output terminal.

It's the drive by wire system, you should look in the service manual for proper test procedure. I think the sensor in question may be part of the servo mechanism under the hood.
