OK, so I know this is a civic forum, but I have a question about an accord throttle body and I've always had good luck here, so here goes. I need to know if a throttle body from say a 97 accord EX would work on an LX or DX? basically, did honda use the same throttle body and sensors on these for all trim levels (I've heard this is the case, but not sure), or are they different by trim level? Are they different by engine? Going junk yard fishing and would really like to be able to expand the range of vehicles I can pull from. Thanks in advance.

 

kept digging last night, and it looks like honda did use the same TPS and throttle body for all body styles. the 90-93 tb's look the same too, so they may bolt on as well.

 

Have you actually looked at your throttle body to see whether or notthe TPSrivetted on?

 

haven't looked, no. even if it isn't riveted, i didn't think you could buy just the TPS, you had to get the whole throttle body. is that not the case? i know if i got a junk yard part i could notch the rivet screw things to remove and replace it, then turn it till it reads 4.5v at idle. just figured i could replace the whole TB more easily. there are a couple on ebay right now for around $40 - $50.

normally they are rivited. so you have to get the whole throttle boby. but maybe its different in your case.

 

I found out yesterday that those are actually NOT rivets. For whatever reason, the geniouses at Honda used headless screws. Sounds crazy, but if you take a dremel and cut a slit into the top of them, you can use a flat head screwdriver to spin them out. I haven't tried it yet, but may have to very soon

 

what series engine are all of they? Usually if its the same series its interchangable

 

correct, they are not rivets. they can be removed, but you can't buy just the TPS so it wouldn't do me much good unless i pulled the TPS from JY car or something, then i'd have to re-adjust it.
the ebay seller stated that a 90-93 TB will not work, as the TPS is different, but the TB itself is likely the same.
found a TB locally that I may be able to pick up, also there is one on ebay right now, so I should be good to go.

I picked up a buddy's spare throttle body yesterday, and swapped my TPS's in about 15 minutes. Instead of using a dremel which has a tendency to "wander," I used a hacksaw, and it worked great.

By the way, I found out that it was NOT my TPS that was bad, so I now have an extra, if you want it
