Default Throttle Body

So i was in a parking lot yesterday and a couple guys i knew were attempting to fix something so i tried to help. It was an Acura Vigor and the the car died whenever the driver would stop at a stop light. I noticed that the car idled really low so one of the other guys there took a screw driver and unscrewed a screw on the throttle body. I suspect it has something to do with the idle air control but otherwise i have no idea. Today some1's car was idling to high (1k RPM) so he was asking me to try and fix it, i lucked out cause it was around 11PM and i couldn't see anything. The guy drives a 94 Camry and he says that he couldn't find the screw i described on the Vigor. Anyone know wat could be causing either problem or wat this screw is? TIA

Well I know that my buick was idling a lil too high so my dad turned down the rpm pin is what he called it. I know how to do it on a bike but not exactly on a car.

It is not a good idea to start messing with idle adjustment without first getting the factory service manual or equivalent. In most cars the idle is controlled by the ECU. There is normally a default setting that has to be set, but for that you have to disable the ECU's ability to adjust idle by disabling the Idle Control Unit or Idle speed control of some sort that the engine may have. My suggestion is get a service manual and follow the proper adjustment instructions.

That's probably good advice for more than just idle adjustment.
