Thermostat temps per location?

Thermostat temps per location?
I bought my 2000 civic ex back in 2004. I live in New York and this car was originally from Texas.
I know they install different temp. thermostats depending on where your located.
I have always noticed it takes awhile for the car to warm up.....and it gets me thinking maybe the wrong temp. thermostat could be the problem?
I have never checked to see what the temp. degree is on this thermostat but was just wondering if a car from texas would have a different temp. thermostat then a car up here in NY?
Thanks....

Doubtful that Tstats would change temp per location. The part numbers are the same, so I can't think of why they would be different.
The Tstat you have sounds like it is sticking open slightly and allowing coolant to go through the radiator prematurely, causing the excessive time it takes the car to heat up.
My suggestion would be to pick up a replacement Thermostat from your honda dealership. Depending on the age, it may be a good idea to replace the radiator hoses, too.

No, all the ones sold in the USA had the same thermostat. If you buy a thermostat from a dealer, there is only one temperature-- which I think is 85 C / 185 F.
Makers of aftermarket thermostats seem to want to support the desire of amateur mechanics to needlessly tinker with things. There is no reason to use any temperature other than stock. That is what the engine computer is expecting to see.
