around 3000 rpm my car just stays there barely going any ideas

 

Please give more details. (sorry I missed some information in your post)

 

i was following my gf back out to her house, an when i was in third gear it would get almost up to 3000 rpm then just hover there untill i hammered the gas but still it would take a couple of seconds to jump up there.
