Not my car, it's my friend's car, trying to help him out, don't know much about Civic's, any help, input, suggestions, and comments is much appreciated... So, it's a '97 DX, he doesn't have some power-related mods like subs or anything like that... While he was driving the speedometer and the RPM goes down to zero for a second and then it will suddenly go back up, has happened to him a few times before while driving recently... thanks in advance...

my speedo used to do that..now it doesnt work. i got my transmission rebuilt recently. the transmission shop said that my speedo sensor was bad. i havent changed it yet but plan to soon.

 

It's a manual...

So, is there only one sensor for the speedo and tach???

im not nessecarily sure about there being 2 sensors or not. but he didnt show me where the sensor is. ill try to take a picture in a little bit here and upload it and circle which one it is. i know that my model has a 2 wire sensor. (92-95)

after reading this i realized i forgot to take the picture of the sensor..haha. my car is back at the trans shop again for them to check some stuff out. when i get the car back within the next few days ill take the picture and upload it here.
