Default Speedometer cable broken in transmission

Hey guys, I am trying to fix my broken speedo cable. I got the new one installed from the gauge cluster down to the transmission. The old broken one has about 1/4 inch of steel braded wire sticking out of the metal part with the flange stuck down in the transmission. It is down the little guide tube. I cannot get a pair of needle nose down there and then open to grab anything. It looks like the metal tube sticking straight up out of the trans can be removed? Any ideas on how to get it out? I tried a magnet but no luck. Thanks

Tweezers covered in electrical tape for gripping power?

I've never had to deal with that kind of problem. Good luck.

hum.... theirs a task... ive always been able to use tweezers, but if you cannt get down their spray some WD-40down into the hole with the wheels off the ground and tranny in gear then have a buddy rock the wheels back and forth to hopefully shake the gear alittle to free it up and then try pliers or magnet again when moving the wheels and hopefully it will come out!

otherwise bust out some really small screw drivers or spikes ground down and try to pick it out or up high enough to tweezer out...
