speed sensor problem 2003 Honda Civic DX
Hi, I have a 2003 honda civic dx with a 1.7 engine. My car worked perfectly until the check engine light came on and they said it was the speed sensor. I went to O'reilly auto for the part. My mechanic replace the part, it ran ok for a while then the light came on again. They told me to bring the part back and they gave me a new one; the same thing happen. This second time the car start pulling very slow and dragging like it didn't want to pull. I barely made it home. They reimbursed me. The sales person then told me I may need to get the part from a honda dealership; he said sometime cars only take the manufacture parts. I did as suggested, I received the part from a honda dealership; my mechanic installed but now the speedometer does not work AGAIN. Now the car still is hesitate to pull a little. Can anyone help me with this problem????????????

Automatics need the signal from the sensor to shift properly. Manuals should drive OK without it except the engine won't rev above 5000 (as is the case when the check engine light is on for any reason).
Check the sensor plug for corrosion. You could try just unplugging and replugging the sensor and see if that makes it work again. If it does, could be the plug.
