Sound coming from transmition?
I have a sound coming I think from my transmition. It is louder when the car is cold. And when I push in the clutch the sound goes away. It kinda sounds like there is a bearing going or something like that. He sound doesn't really get louder with high RPM. The time I hear it the most is at a light with the car in nutral. The guy who I got he car from said the mechanic thought it was the Clutch pressure plate. So I changed the clutch and the sound is still there. I don't know that much about transmitions. Could mine be going? It also sometimes in third gear will surge. Not sure if it's related or a different problem. Any help would be great.

Yeah when I changed the clutch I replaced the throw out bearing. My car makes noise while in gear too. I'm wondering if it's the main shaft bearing. I pulled a transmition from the junk yard today. I'll put it in saterday and hopefully it's better then the one I allready have.

Noise in neutral that stops when you press the clutch in is probably from inside the transmission. The outside input shaft bearing is a common problem. It is not hard to replace but you will need to take the transmission out of the car and open it up.

I have no problem in taking the transmission out of the car. But I have never done any internal work on one. Do you know if they sell transmission bearing kits and like a general price for one? How do you get rid of clutch noise if that is part off my problem or that just a common Honda thing?
After you replace the transmission, you can figure out what you want to do at your leisure time. While you will be driving your car with no noise, hopefully.

The bearing is about a $30 part. It is on the end of the shaft so extensive disassembly is not necessary. Take out the bolts that hold the transmission case halves together, and you will also have to finesse the snap ring at the end to get the case to come apart. Then the bearing is right there. If you can afford to park the car for a few days, it would pay to take apart first, check all the major bearings, and order just those that are noisy. When reassembling, there is no gasket for the case. It is sealed with sealer.
