Sony MEX-BT5000 storing stations sirius CIVIC LX
Ok, I installed a new head unit along with Sirius radio but I'm having an issue with the sirius radio not storing stations in the head unit.
Here’s how I did the install:
The Sirius needs it's own power supply, I connected the ground to the chasse, no issues there. I connected the Positive in with the cig lighter unit. The only thing I can even think maybe causing this is that if the stations are stored on the sirius unit it's self and the cig lighter does not have a constant power supplied to it when vehicle is turned off, the stations get cleared out. I guess that leads me to ask a few questions:
1. Does anyone know if stations are stored in the Sirius unit it's self?
2. In a 2002 Honda Civic LX, does the Cig lighter unit have a constant power supplied to it even after the car is turned off?
Point 1: The Sony head unit DOES store local radio stations and holds the time, the tuner is set up correctly.
Point 2: The Sirius unit does say to have a constant power supplied to it by connecting directly to the battery.

My best guess, with my experience with XM, tells me that yes, your station info is saved in the XM or Sirus box itself, It needs a constant power supply, you can splice into your head unit's red/constant power wire and run it to your sirus box, thats what I did with XM.
The Lighter will not have power supplied after the car dies, therefore if your using your lighter power to supply power to the sirius box, it's going to clear your settings everytime the car is turned off.
I would just run your ground , hot, and power leads to the same color wires running to your head unit. You should have a red, yellow, and black wire comming from your Sirius box. if you just use a butt connector to splice these colored wires to the identical colors on your Head unit's harness, you will be ready to roll.
If you have to, use an El'cheapo tester to test some inside wires, make sure after your key is off, the red wire is still getting power, the yellow will be ACC power, and shouldn't have any voltage until you turn your key.
Let me know if thats similar to your set-up, I will help you all I can. Even I miss a wire or two now and again.

i know my cig lighter is only powered with the keys ON....
simply tap into the fuse box... use a light tester and prob the unused male prongs... .most likely thiers a few empty spade terminals under the dash like mine... tho mine is older...
tho just look at the fuse box and prob the wires with the light/circuit tester and see WHEN it has power.....
preaty simple........

sweet people. Thanks for your help. I'll give a few things a try this weekend, let you know if that resolves the issue. I'm tired of going through the channels every-time my car starts. LOL
