Small Crack in my Radiator

Small Crack in my Radiator
I found a short crack near the top of my radiator. I can drive my car a couple days before I need to refill my radiator again. Is there some kind of cement or temporary fix that I can patch the crack with temporarily just until I can get a brand new radiator installed?? I was told there was but I'm not sure what I'm looking for. The temps in my area around 90 degrees and up so that doesn't help much with the radiator either, but I cut back on the A/C.

RE: Small Crack in my Radiator
I oncecracked an egg into my old car radiator when it had a crack in it... and the temporary fix lasted me about 2 months on that one egg... sounds crazy but it worked until it could get fixed. Would I or anyone else recomend that?? probably not, but it worked! [sm=roll.gif]

I don't know what the junk is called, but yes there is a temporary fix. I believe the heat of the radiator makes the product swell (after you place it in the crack) and it should seal it up.
My brother just patched my sister's radiator and she drove on that repair for 3 months or so. Sorry I don't know the name of the product...just go to an Auto Zone and they will help you.
Good luck

Hey man I just did the same thing. The crack is on the plastic under the cap part. If you really need to drive your car then put a temp patch or something on it. Then get an ebay radiator or and oem one. I ordered an all metal ebay radiator for like 100 bucks including shipping. And its shiny

RE: Small Crack in my Radiator
well for the top of the radiator is spray some cleaner on it and use some JB weld the high temp like large pensil size stuff.
after cleanen the spot good just mix that putty like stuff up realy good and just cramp some of it into the whole and wait for it to dry overnight before toping off the system.
but like always start looken into a new radiator
but that stuff should do great for the high temp and that stuff dries like steel!!!!!!
id use it! just mix as much as ya need.... and its not the clear stuff its like a 2part putty rolled together.. ya just cut how much off that you need and just by hand mix it up realy good.... i used that stuff at my works steam tables and it lasted a LONG @ss time without any leaking... it only busted off when a newbie started cleaning it and was DIGGING at that stuff raely hard!
