I need to know what does this part of the linkage does , is there any reason in why that's there?

it doesn't act for anything, honda must think the weight helps in shifting, it might but if it is in the way of anything which i dont really see happening you dont need it i dont believe. why do you need to know?

i would cut it off myself... if you got a weighted shifter it would be better to have the weight up top to throw the gears.

i think it's there to make it weighted for easier engagement into your primary gears. (i.e. 1st and 2nd)

what year vehicle?
check one of the parts websites and see if it is just a welded on version of a weighted shifter
