Default Rust repair question

I took my car in to a body shop to get the honda rust repaired. I just picked it up and I'm not happy at all with the work they did.

They never removed the rusted portions of the panels, they just took the repair panels and welded them in place right over the rust.

They also didn't patch the rust in the wheel wells like I asked.

Is it normal practice to weld panels right on top of one another like that?

No not at all. Rust is like cancer......it spreads like crazy. The existing rust on the old panels will eventually get on the new panels, and eat right away at em.

I hope you didn't pay them, go back and demand that they fix it right. Tell them to cut out the old rusted part of the panel and weld in new metal in its place. Don't let them bondo over it either.

AHHHH, something I have some knowledge in. Jeeps are famous for their rust. The entire area of rust MUST be removed, taking some healthy metal with it. Then the new metal is welded in and grinded down to baby smooth..............only the best can do this without SOME indication of the repair. I would go back and request they re-do the job if your not happy. It will remain a thorn in your side if you don't speak up.
The differance between Jeeps and Imports..................Jeep people must do their own repairs...........can't afford not to, always replacing broken parts runes the wallet!

thanks guys. I'm headed over there now. If they don't fix it right, I'll cancel payment through the credit card company and let them try to sue me. (father in law is a lawyer)

Check this pic out:

edit: grrrrr... they aren't open, I'll have to simmer until monday [:@]
also turns out I can't cancel payment, but I can have the credit card company help dispute the payment.
