was it smoking before? is the timing correct? how does the engine sound? be sure to jump the connector to check timing. also check all your vaccuum lines

no it wasn't smoking before. the timing is right the engine sounds normal no misses and i just got done checking the vacum lines. the timing belt and water pump was done by a honda mechanic that owns his own shop he worked for a dealer ship for 18 years i know him real well. i was going to take it back to him but he's backed up for a month last week he gave me a tw sensor "coolent sensor" the one the tells the ecu the water temp no change. i'm wondering if it could be the map sensor or the ecu going bad thanks for your reply hari. but like i said with no cel its driving me crazy trying to figure this out

it can't be the ecu, but a possibility of the MAP sensor. does it blow out black smoke at idle? try resetting the ecu, let it learn it's idle and see what happens. also, let me know if you need a MAP sensor, i have it

Darryl dude... black smoke = your running rich. but if it wasn't running rich before, then my question is why would it start to run rich after changing the belt....hmmm

yes hari it blows smoke at idle. ive reset the ecu. and tim i asked the honda guy about that he does good work i was there when he did the timing belt and water pump he set the timing. the one problem is this motor has over 290,000 miles on it. and thanks for the map sensor offer hari but i have a friend of mine that has one and some extra sensors. i'm going to get them and start swiching them out one at a time and see if i can find this thanks guys. and tomorrow i'm going to do a compression test on it

It might be a bad primary O2 sensor telling it to run rich.

with all of my hondas, they always blow smoke with milage that high. its probably your piston rings. it sounds like ur burnin oil. and it also sounds like a coencidence that you did all that work and it started smoking. good luck
