Question Remove '94 fan "cage" from blower motor?

The blower motor on my '94 Civic LX 4 Dr has obvious water damage (resulting from leaks from rusted out cowl drain above). I want to see inside the motor to determine if it is repairable, but this appears to require removal of the fan "cage". It appears that the "plastic" fan cage is on the motor shaft as merely a press fit. (I was about to say that there was no clip on the cage, but I think, I remember having an extra clip the other day when I was reinstalling the seat after fixing the rusted out drain.) I have attempted to pry the cage from the motor with a screw driver between the cage and the motor. I was able to move the cage about 1/4"; the cage does not want to move further and I don't want to break it. Any suggestions. (Want to avoid spending $$ as the car is developing numerous issues.) I have attempted to free the the cage by soaking the motor spindle with WD_40, etc.)

It does just push on, but when the shaft is rusted the cage is going to be stuck. The motor is not made to come apart either. With water damage the whole thing is probably totaled.
