Default rear defogger defunct

Another problem with my recently purchased '95 DX is that the rear defoggers do not work. It appears as though someone cleaned the back window at some point rather vigorously and wiped off patches of the conducting strips (it irks me that car manufacturers couldn't have come up with something a little more foolproof than this [>:]!). Anyway, I was wondering if there is any kind of a product out there that you can paint on to allow conduction to carry through (to recontinue the strips, as it were). I know that the connectors on either side of the rear window are carrying juice. Hope you all can help once again. Thanks,

Andy

The paint is suitable for fixing small gaps only. With that major damage, the grid is no longer usable. You can buy a third party new grid on plastic film that sticks onto the inside of the window, or replace the whole window.

Any suggestions on where to look for the replacement film? Does it look really crappy or is it passable for an older vehicle? Thanks again,

Andy
