Default Rattling/RPM jumping

Hey all just joined today and i got a problem with my 97 civic hx. I just changed oil, oil filter and air filter the other day and now i notice theCEL is on and the enginearea seems to rattle like crazy when i roll from a stop, and goes away pass above 2k rpm. Also the rpm keeps jumping from 1k to 2k and keeps back n forth when Im in neutral or park(auto trans btw). The oil and air filter seems to be fine, no oil leak from the pan nor the filter. So i did the cel code thingy and had a code 14.I searched and found 14 is the IAC valve but doesn't say how to resolve it. So do i replace/clean the iac or am i suppose to adjust something to it? How does it look like and where is it located? Can it just be the iac or is there more to it? Any help is greatly appreciated thanx all.

ugh... idle surges FTL

Your IAC is located on the back of your Intake Manifold. It's really easy to pull off, just two 12mm bolts. Get some carb cleaner and shoot some inside, wipe it down real good, hook it back up and see if that changes anything.

You're not getting any leaks down low are you?

...k gonna try and clean it with carb cleaner. But what is up with the shake in the engine bay? its very annoying. When I start to move forward it shakes like crazy and its loud people would turn around to see what the hell that was lol. but only when i move from complete stop, shakes for like 2 seconds. I dunno, well Im gonna try and clean the iac right now and see what happens then. thanks for the help forty

Sounds like your idle is going lower than normal, and your motor is working extra hard to get through the first thousand or so rpms. With crappy stock motor mounts, its bound to move around. Try blipping the throttle before you get on it so that you get into first at a slightly higher RPM

I still can't find the damn thing. Is it attached to the intake manifold, cos i looked on the back of it theres nothing there. I know theres suppose to be two hoses attached to it. all i see similar to it is the one under the throttle body, with a lime green electrical rubber attached. oh well gonna go bak and keep looking, thnx again.

Post a picture of your intake manifold, preferably the back side
