Default PCM question, please help

Does anyone know specifically which PCM's will work in a 97 honda civic dx coupe 5 spd 2 door car? Will a PCM out of a 97' Automatic tranny'd civic work for me? I ask this because there is one on ebaymotors for cheap, and I'm not going to pay 700$ for a pcm from the honda dealership.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you always need a different one for automatic versus manual.

The only info I can come up with for that year on computers is "Part Available Thru Rebuild & Return Only "

lol... the original post doesnt ask if it is hard to find one locally, The question is which years/model will work in the 97 dx 5spd coupe? The odds of me finding this exact year and model in a junkyard are slim to none, and slim just left.

Junkyards would know which ones interchange. They have a computer database to do that kind of stuff.

I have a strong preference to buy used parts locally because then you can take it back in person and demand satisfaction if it is a dud.

I don't think it's the same for automatics vs manuals. Got to get the right one. Do your Homework. E-bay is only GOOD if you know what you are looking for not a guessing game if it will fit or not. The best bet is if you go to a local Honda dismantling yard. For surethey will be getting you the right item. If it don't work more likely you can exchange it. E-bay who knows. GOOD LUCK.
