if the exhaust bolts are very rusted, i'd measure the current ones on there and buy a couple new ones just incase u break them(i've done it before). just remove the exhaust manifold, the engine brackets, may have to remove the clutch case cover on the transmission(real easy), and remove all the little nuts and bolts from the oil pan. i strongly suggest using a rubber mallet and tap the oil pan off. prying it off can damage the mating surface on the pan/block and increase the chance of a leak. along with the new oil pan gasket, i'd suggest applying some gasket sealer all around the outer edge of the oil pan to reduce the risk of leakage.

Just curious, how hard must you typically whack an original stock oil pan to release it from the block?

i took mine off recently and it just took a couple taps for it to come off. i've never had a problem with oil pans sticking but im sure its possible.

Thanks for the oil pan removal tips. I need to buy myself a big rubber mallet.

in terms of tapping it, i presume you mean that you are tapping from all 4 sides or does it not matter? i will probably have to do this repair soon.
