oil change light

RE: oil change light
If it is a check engine light then you have a problem with your engine that an oil change prolly will not fix. If it is a check engine light goto the parts store and have them pull the code for you. Don't take thier advice on what the problem is, they usually are just trying to sell you stuff.

RE: oil change light
does honda have those service engine lights. they are on audi's.
to turn off the check engine light, unplug the main fuse for 2 or 3 minutes.
or if you don;t know where that is, just disconnect the negative side cable from the battery for 2 or 3 minutes.

RE: oil change light
I know on my fiances 04 civic, and I believe it is on my 02 civic, the maintenance required light comes on to remind you to do scheduled maintance after a certain amount of miles. For the first 8,000 miles after the indicator is reset, it will come on for two seconds when you turn the ignition on (stage II). Between 8,000 and 10,000 miles the light will light for two seconds when you turn the car on and then flash for 10 seconds.. then after 10,000 miles it will stay on until the indicator is reset. Usually if you bring your car in for an oil change to a place that knows this, they will reset the indicator for you, but if you do your oil changes yourself, or someone who doesn't know to reset it, this is how you reset it:
1 - Turn off your engine.
2 - Press and hold the trip meter select/reset button (the one next to the odometer)
3 - While holding the button down turn the ignition switch on (stage II - right before you turn to turn the engine over)
4 - Hold the button down until the indicator resets and the maintenance light goes out (approx. 5-10 seconds)
I am pretty sure that's what you are talking about.... hope it helps.
