Default RE: O2 sensor question???

I am not sure if you're still having problems with your civic (poor mpg, sluggish response, etc.). I had a similar problem with my 97 Civic EX. I was getting bad mpg, acceration was sucking, etc. Well, I refered to my Hanes manual and did the normal tune up (spark plugs, wires, rotor, cap, fuel filter, etc) none of it really helped. So, I kept digging and found a forum about using Sea Foam to clean out your intake manifold. So I did that, and it help a little but the car still seem to be a little bit off. The next thing I read about was my PCV valve. So, I started looking for it and couldn't find it! I know, that's pretty sad, but everyone I talked to said it should be on top. My manual even said it should be on top, but it could be below the intake manifold. So I look there, still could find it. Well after giving up, I relized that my car was due for an oil change, so this past week I changed the oil and when I was replacing the oil filter, BAMB, it was right there in my face ( the oil filter had to be removed in order to reach it). Anyways, after I changed it, my car seem to run much better.

However, I am planning on checking my time soon. Hope some of this is useful to ya.

I am taking it in to the shop in the morning to have them replace the timing chain, and water pump. Do I need to tell them to check that or will they do that as part of changing everything out?

Sorry to dig up such an old post, but I am still getting sh%t MPG. I had the Fuel filter, water pump, timing belt and all changed out. Oh yeah, also the PCV was changed to a new one. Timing reset and Idle speed set. Still getting around 17-20MPG. The only thing I can think is that it is the O2 sensor. I am not throwing any codes at all, but Its all I can think of. Any Ideas?

Before you replace the O2 sensor try this : http://www.lucasoil.com/products/dis...tid=2&loc=show
also make sure your air filter is nice and new.
