Default now my speedometer quit working lol help

well now my speedo went retarted... works when it wants to as well as odometer. i changed the speedo censor on the top of the tranny. didnt work. any other ideas? do the clusters just go out some times and need to be replaced or what??

Both the odometer and speedometer failing should indicate that the cluster is fine. It sounds like the problem lies in the VSS or the wiring.

i do the cel check trick and the light just stays on doesnt flash nothing just stays on. does that mean there is nothing wrong? am i suppose to start the car or just turn it to the on position?

I think that means there aren't any codes stored.

As Trust mentioned, check the wire running between the VSS and cluster for continuity. Also check the corresponding terminal in the cluster and cluster connector for corrosion or damage.

yes i have checked the connection. cleaned it with contact cleaner too. the odometer will work sometimes and the speedometer wont. sometimes both wont work... hrmmm

If the VSS-cluster wire has good continuity, then you may need to try replacing the cluster.
