Default noisy gear shifter

ok guys....got a small problem with my shifter....99 Civic DX. My shifter seems to be be vibrating against something and cant quite seem to figure it out. Sometimes I'm just idling in neutral and I get this quick tapping sound from the shifter...when I put my hand on it, it feels like it is vibrating against something else or vice versa. I could also be up in 5th on the highway with none of the sound and as soon as I take my foot of the pedal, the noise starts up ....I think it is the change of speed causing some vibration leading back to the shifter.

I can also move the shifter off to one side and it stops ( cause its not up against whatever is vibrating down there) then gradually it moves back to its natural position and the tapping sound starts. Could I be missing a bushing of some sort or some rubber rig that acts as a "standoff" for the shifter......thanks guys!
.........also usually no sound when in 2nd or 4th.

oh ****, i've had this same problem for like a year. it drives me in-freakin'-sane! i haven't had time to actually diagnose the problem yet, but if i do, i'll let you know, and vice versa. i have a b&m short shifter though. and i kinda installed the polyurethane bushing in the dark, so i'm not quite sure exactly what i did.

yeah, that's not my problem considering mine is normally wedged very tightly around my shifter.
