Default New Steering Wheel Fitment

Hello all,

I bought an aftermarket steering wheel and this is probably a dumb question.. but bare with me.

The "teeth" on the new steering wheel are not ... deep or big enough? ... Is there a way to have this machined so it will properly fit the teeth on the steering wheel shaft? Is it even worth it? Online it said this is specifically made for a 1993 Honda Civic but I test fit it on my other Civic and it goes on the shaft but just spins and catches in certain spots.
