Default need some help? plz

hey whats up? i was driving my ej1 coupe(95 civic)today and all of a sudden my speedometer started tripen, so now it doesnt work.. need some help plz.. thanks!

Get a check-engine light? If so, read the error code. I suspect it's the VSS. (Vehicle Speed Sensor on the tranny.)

If you don't get a CEL, then the VSS is probably OK but the wiring to the cluster (or in the cluster itself) is flaky.

If its a '95 the spedometer could be wearing out. I've seen this before a couple times. One moment your going 30 mph the next your going 18,000 mph? You can try to pull the gauge cluster off and applying some light weight hobby oil to the spedo gears. That's what fixed it for me, but it was temporary fix on my friend's civic. Your spedo might need to be replaced. You could try a light weight grease on the gears but I don't know how well it will work. Try tapping the glass and see if you can get it to move again while driving. It's just stuck...

It could also be the sender from the transmission, although I highly doubt it.
