Default In need of some help

Hello folks, I recently bought a 1998 honda civic, and its been working like a charm but not all of a sudden (i hope i explain this right) but whenever im at a red light and got my foot on the brake they car sometimes has a "jerk" kind of feeling and when i accerlate to drive its like the car is having a hard time picking up speed, I not much of a mechinc but could it be i need new motor mounts? Check engine light isn't on either.

the symptoms you describe do not sound like motor mount issues. normally motor mount issues will result in loud noises at acceleration and rapid deceleration which makes the motor jerk backward or forward. sounds like it could be a throttle issue in that it wants to jerk forward while you are stopped at a light. how is the idle when you have your brakes on in Drive?

again, your first comment about the stopped at a red light tells me it is unrelated to the motor mounts. if you are having issues accelerating, then it could either be fuel related or it could be a timing problem. others more experienced in these areas can chime in. it also can be related to your idle.
