Need help diagnosing problem sound
I have a 1995 del sol stock D15 in it with 160K miles. Im planning on boosting it untill I can afford a B18 but there is a terrible sound coming from what sounds like the transmission when in 1st and 2nd gear. None of the gears grind and the clutch doesnt slip. It sounds like what a car sounds like when the CV axles are not in the wheel all the way, but they are fine. I cat figure it out. It doesnt do it when you accelerate quickly either. Any help would be appreciated.

Not your throwout bearing.
I did a DIY of back then but it magically disappear from DIY section.

Yeah sounds like mainshaft bearing. Eventually it will make the sound whenever the clutch is out.
I've never rebuilt a Honda tranny but from what I've read/heard their manual transmissions are very easy to work on. A rebuild kit would run you around $200. If you google there are some very good DIY's with pictures n such.
You could go that route or get a junk yard tranny for about the same price.

Most likely you need only the mainshaft bearing and main seal and some silicone sealant, total prob cost about $50.
I still have some new bearing left. lol
Ah.. found some old pix.. Mainshaft bearing is the last pix circle in black the seal in underneath this bearing.
