Default Is My clutch out?

Hi guys, new to this forum...

1995 Civic DX...200,000 mi.

When my car sits still for a long time, i.e. when I get in to go home from work, the shifter is really difficult to get into gear. Sometimes its impossible. The clutch pedal seems too light too. After messing with it for a minute it works and there are no more problems.

Putting it into reverse gives a grinding sound...

But it just happens at first....

I never had a clutch go in any car that I have had, but without a clutch, I assume the car would be extremely hard to move without grinding gears all day.

Maybe you low on Trans fluid?

yeah I was low on hydraulic clutch fluid.

I found this out because the clutch and shifter worked fine after I pumped it...

Look for fluid leak from the clutch master and slave cylinders. A common leak is at the top of the clutch pedal where it contacts the master cylinder push rod. If you can't find a leak, then bleed the hydraulic system.
