Can you hear the fuel pump prime?

^+1 when you turn the key to the IGN2 position, you should hear a low hum from under the back seat.

Sounds like the main relay. Turn key on but not all the way to try to start. Like the other guy said, you should hear the fuel pump prime then stop after 2 seconds (it is not real loud, listen carefully at the fuel tank area under the back seat). Also the yellow "check engine" light should come on for those 2 seconds then go out. If it stays on constant that is usually because of the main relay.

There are numerous write-ups about how to resolder a main relay. Basically they were not soldered well at the factory.

If you did the timing, I would recheck this first, even though your car started before, the belts have a tendency to move.

i got the same problem with the car i just bought. the previous owner let it sit for a few months then when he went to start it it wouldnt start. not even with starting fluid. could the main relay cause this?? previous owner said his buddy started it and let it idle then it slowly died and wouldnt restart. he said theres no check engine light on or error codes?
