motor shaking violently
I'm not sure if i need to raise my idle a little or what but whenever i'm just hanging out at a red light at idle my whole car is just shaking, it slowly got worst
do i need new motor mount bushings? would a bad oxygen sensor cause this? because mine currently is along with a cracked exhaust manifold
any input is greatly appreciated
oh and if i catch the gas pedal in the right spot, i can get it to go away and it doesn't even feel like the rpms are changing
(i don't have a tachometer so i cants really say)

RE: motor shaking violently
if the motor is idling too low, it'll cause the car to shake at rest and even cut off, the engine light will show if the oxygen sensor is bad, causing the irradic idle. try to get the mani fixed and check the o2 sensor via your OBD port with a scanner

RE: motor shaking violently
Does your steering wheel vibrate a lot at idle? Pop the hood and look at your motor mounts and torque stoppers. The rubber should not be cracked or peeling. If it is, your mounts are bad.
Do note that the sound of a cracked mani will make your car vibrate too.

I have a similar problem. My car idols at 300-500 when its warmed up. So sometimes I will stop at a red light and my car will start to shake because the idol is too low, sometimes it is ok and other times I have to rev it to keep it from stalling. Is there an easy way to just adjust the idol afew 100 rpm'shigher?

RE: motor shaking violently
yeah it already threw a code about oxygen sensor, that's when i took my heat shield off and found a crack right down the middle of my manifold
so i ordered some headers that just got here, and i'm gong to use my old oxygen sensor at first and if it still comes back i'll go pick up a used sensor at a junkyard or something
my car never sounds like it's going to die because the idle is too low so it's probably not that, but just whenever the gas is depressed at all the shaking stops
i'm just getting over the flu so i should have the headers installed tomorrow and post a verdict/update

RE: motor shaking violently
i just installed the headers and yeah my upstream oxygen sensor was literally crushed in, i'm not sure how...
but it's still kind of rough but no where near as bad as it was before, i might look at some motor mounts while i'm at the junkyard
