Default Manual Trans fluid change

I have a 95 EX with the 5 speed manual. It has 127k miles on it. I bought the car a few months ago from the original owner who bought it brand new. She gave me a stack of service records for the car as she kept it meticulously maintained. I noticed that the man. trans. fluid has never been changed. People say you never have to change it but other people also say that its gear oil and like everything else it breaks down over time and looses its viscosity. I have also heard its a good idea to change it at least every 100000-150000 miles too keep metal shavings and other junk from building up. What do you guys think?

Change it for sure. The Honda manual transmissions use just regular engine oil.

Honda Manual Transmission fluid is what comes in it from the factory, get that from your local dealership.

Yes you should change it. Get some Honda man. trans. fluid from a dealership. you don't have to tho i used some off brand auto trans. fluid in my last 5 speed but now i use honda brand man. fluid.

I change mine once a year actually, along with the brake fluid, clutch fluid, coolant etc. Pick up Honda Genuine Manual Trans Fluid at your local dealership.

Hello,
Yes I would change the trans. oil like any other oil it breaks down after time. I had a Toy. truck with manual that I never changed the trans oil after 150,000 miles and the rear seal went out. I lucked out and put in a new seal and Honey oil and it kept on going for another 170,000 miles till someone hit me from behind and made me hit another truck. Then sold it. Please keep us posted on the progress. Thanks, 2010civiclx
