Default manual tranny install question

Gents:

I just installed the manual tranny on a replacement engine for my 95 coupe. I replaced the clutch and release bearing and rear seal. When I move the release fork back and forth I can't feel any force being exerted on/by the clutch.

Is this normal? Best I find out now before I drop it in the car!

It takes a lot of force to overcome the spring and release the clutch, more than you can apply by hand. Moving the lever by hand, the release bearing will just hit the "fingers" in the clutch cover and stop.

Yes, I second that. There's no way you are going to move the fork with your hand. Amazing what a little hydraulics can do! I can tell you this though, when you go to put the tranny back in, only bolt up what you need to and verify correct operation before you go any further. I had a whole bunch of fun when I fixed a mainshaft tranny bearing and didn't put everything back correctly. It was a whole lot of fun trying to remove/install that tranny by myself. I think I had to take it out 3 times before I got it right.
