take it to a parts store or dealer and they should be able to scan it for you

 

ok so u changed your spark plugs and wires???? did u pull off ur distributor cap and rotor???? if not then pull em' off with a 8mm or a phillips screw driver (dont froget to label ur spark plug wires)theres 4small bolts,one on each cornerof the cap.... take it off and look on the inside.... u'll see 4 little silver prongs.... take a small file or razor and clean off the white colored corrosion, and look at ur rotor it is on the distributor itself, it is black or dark grey, its about the size of the top of a soda can, and it has a metel strip on it that covers about 1/4 of the outter rim, make sure its clean too.... because there alot like spark plugs and under a load the tend to foul out if there dirty or old.... if not that then look at ur v-tec syolinoid just infront of the distributor, its about the sizeof aD batt.are the plugs tight???? is it covered in oil???? and when the car is idolingout of gear and the motor is warmed up does it do it still???? how old is your fuel filter???? sry for the questions but im tryin to trubleshoot with u so you wont kill urself because i know whats it like....lol

 

I'm haveing problems with my VTEC also. Thats very in depth and helpful elusive. I'm going to checkthe distributor captomorrow on my car and see if there is any corrosion like you said.
So you just take the plug wires off while the car is shut off and unscrew off the distributor cap? Do you need to cover anything so no dirt or contaminants get into anything?

 

its very possable that the Vtec solinoid is getting stuck and not engaging like it should or closeing like it should. the rattle may be the sound of whats called gas knock????mabey have you gotten gas a a different station latley???Maybey your vtec is working but cant feel it engage because your cat is starting to plug up???
Just some ideas out there for you to think about

 

I might also take the NGK plug wires off tomorrow (even though they are only like 5 months old), and switch to some others I got forget the name of them but they weren't cheap either I think around $25....not sure but def not as expensive as the NGK's.

 

Well, I stripped the screw on the bottom of the dist cap towards the front.....It's all corroded and white, I hardly turned it and it just chipped off. Dunno what to do now, the screw on the top of the dist cap towards the frontcame off easy (wasn't as corroded).

Tomorrow I'm going to get some new bolts for the distributor cap maybe stainless steel and just drill out the corroded ones.

Think i found out what it is..... My exhaust manifold has got a leak only when under pressure an because this is before the o2 senser its causing all sorts of problems..... I am gonna have a proper look at it when i get home... in work at mo. ill make sure i keep u guys informed just hope it is just the manifold ill be happy if it is

 

That would make sense when i checked my cel codes it was throwin a 1 flash.... a code 10 is wrong intake temprture aint it!

I'm gonna get a new mani fold on tuesday now because its bank holiday monday here! ill keep you in the no if it fixes the problem.......I really hope it does!
