Default Losing oil, any info will help

Ok, When I get close to the 3,000 mile mark and I take it in for an oil change I'm always close to bone dry.

1. I'm not smoking out the back
2. no leaks underneath
3. no leaks from the valve cover

Engine looks clean, I dont get it. Where and how can I be losing oil?

I was running 5w30 synthetic, and switched to a thicker 5w50 synthetic. Anybody know whats going on?

It's most likely being burned, but slowly enough that there isn't noticeable smoke. Up to 1 quart per 1000 miles is considered "normal" by car manufacturers. Some cars need to be topped up between oil changes. Don't let it run low.

i'm in the same sitch, do you have any oil on your oil pan? That might mean a bad drain plug/gasket or a bad oil pan gasket. Also i got switched to 10w30 i think because it's a bit thicker and won't leak as much? Idk, thats what i've been told though.

In my opinion, the amount of oil loss you describe sounds a bit excessive. I would recommend that you continue to search for a possible oil leak and to check your oil level more frequently to avoid major engine damage.

Also depends on the type of driving you do. If you are always flooring it and revving really high, you will burn some oil. Also, if you're going on long road trips over mountain passes in really hot weather, etc. that can burn some.
Under normal driving, I can easily go 3000 miles without burning a drop, but when I go back to visit my parents, (a 3.5-4 hour drive over 2 mountain passes) sometimes I have to add some. I've never seen it get near the empty mark though, so you might have some kind of problem. How many miles are on your car?

maybe you can check your PCV valve...its a 3 dollar part and if yours is going bad it could be sucking oil into your intake.
