Locks and speakers
A while back I got a new stereo and new speakers, and Best buy installed it, they told me my drivers door boot/molex was broken so that speaker won't work, now the passenger side door speaker doesn't work, I'm assuming it's the same problem. Also my power locks only work on the driver door, is that because of the aftermarket stereo? If so can I fix it like I fixed the dome light with the jumper wire? How hard would it be to take the door off and fix the boot or replace it? I'm thinking about taking it to the dealership. 1998 Honda Civic Lx

Hmm.
I recall reading that the "brain" for the security system lives in the same box as the factory stereo. However, having said that my power door locks work just fine after replacing the factory deck. (I don't have keyless entry, so I don't know if that still works or not). I'm willing to bet that they disconnected or damaged something in the drivers door when they were installing the equipment.
Not sure why your speakers wouldn't work though.

It's only 96 and 97 models where the keyless receiver is integrated with the factory radio. A 98 should have a separate box. I think the OP said the locks worked for a w while after the radio install, then quit. It's real common for the wires to break where they flex every time the door opens. The passenger door lock depends on wiring in the driver's door, which is usually opened much more often. So check the driver's door first before messing with the passenger door. I think on a 98 you can unplug the door harnesses from the main interior harness and replace them at low cost. You don't have to remove the door from the car, just take the inner panel off and pull the wires inside.

Thanks for the info about the difference between the 96/97 and hte 98/99 models MK. Learn something new every day.
I agree with the idea about pinched/damaged wires in the driver's door. I was thinking the same thing
